Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2012-11-05]: Many times we hear about 24-hour (or 48-hour) strikes that working people do in retaliation for harsh measures taken from
their governments or as a reaction for some “bad” changes in their work
environment. But what is a 24h strike after all? For the employer, it is the
BEST way to show he is free-minded. He just lets his employees not work for one
day and after that they are all back and running as usual! For the employees it
is a good chance to sit at home and get some rest. Essence = ZERO. In the old
days, when people had REAL problems with their work they went on strike for
months, actually RISKING their jobs and even their physical health (or even
their lives)… Now we are all about pretending… And the only ones who actually go on strike are the "well-fed" who can afford to so. Too bad… Too sad…
