Philosophy Wire: Oath, atheists, hypocrisy, shouting…

1EDC31BC66F6F0EAA8819C6841C59552Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2013-01-03]: A bunch of people (literally) is suing Greece to the European Court for violation of human rights, due to the fact that witnesses have to swear in the Holy Gospels. They claim that not all people are Christians and, thus, this practice is problematic and against objectivity and human rights. [source: web news] Atheists are a minority that is too loud for its size. Yes, they have rights. No one has denied them that. That is why, according to Greek Law, witnesses which are not Christians can say an oath to their Honour instead of the Gospels. Having said this, one can clearly see that their goal is not to protect any "right", since non is threatened in the first place. Their goal is to impose their opinion on the majority. Minority oppression is a trend lately...
