Philosophy Wire: Birds hold funeral for dead… Not!

bird4Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2012-09-02]: A recent BBC article held the title “Bird hold ‘funerals’ for dead”, thus implying that the feathered creatures have the intellectual capacity to understand what we understand for death and mourn for their dead [source: BBC News]. However if one reads the article he can easily see that this is simply not true. Some birds just call on each other when they see a dead bird in order to warn for possible danger. When you want to see something too bad, then you may see it even if it is not there…
