Philosophy Wire by Spiros Kakos [2012-04-14]: Do black holes have entropy? And if yes, how much? Do they have little entropy or great entropy? My quest for answers led me to a new example of scientific dogmatism: yes, black holes do have entropy! Because if they hadn’t then… the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics would be violated! So we conclude that the MUST have! As Wikipedia openly states “The only way to satisfy the second law of thermodynamics is to admit that black holes have entropy” [source: 1, 2].
